PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Stanford University 1990.

His career includes design of machinery and software, product development, reliability studies, asset management, portfolio analysis and management of an entrepreneurial company in thermoelectrics and hydrogen storage. Current work includes diverse aspects of spatial planning, information systems including GIS, management plans, project management and strategy. Founder and owner of Alta.

DRÍFA ÁRNADÓTTIR

Consultant

BSc in Landscape Design from the Agricultural University of Iceland and a MSc in Sustainable Urban Design from Lund University in Sweden, where she specialized in urbanization of suburban neighborhoods with focus on public transit, walkability, playful public realm and sustainable drainage solutions. Current work includes land-use planning at a municipal level and urban design.

Consultant

Completed his architectural training in the UK and the United States, holds a Masters Degree in Theories of Representation, and also a Certificate in Management Consulting from Grenoble Graduate Business School in France. A place strategist, architect, urban designer, management consultant and published author with over twenty five years of experience and has led projects involving urban visioning, the design of large-scale mixed-use developments, placebrand strategy, academic research and thought leadership publishing. He is currently involved in Place Visioning projects all over the world.

HALLDÓRA HREGGVIÐSDÓTTIR

Founder, Owner, General Manager and consultant

Halldora Hreggvidsdottir is the founder and General Manager at Alta consulting. She is a certified planning consultant, with MS degree in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University, MS in Geology from Stanford University and BS in Geology form University of Iceland. 
 

Halldora has extensive experience in strategic and urban land-use planning, environmental and change management projects, both in the private and public sector. Her main areas of work include land-use planning projects at strategic to site plan level, environmental impact assessments, development of national and regional parks and  UNESCO heritage areas.  She is also one of Iceland's leading experts in the field of planning and implementation of sustainable drainage systems, or blue-green infrastructure and an enthusiastic promoter of the use of nature based solutions to improve the built and natural environment for all.

HALLDÓRA HRÓLFSDÓTTIR (DÓRA)

Consultant

MSc in Urban Planning from McGill University in Montreal, Canada 2008 and BA in Political Science and French from University of Iceland. Dóra worked previously as a planner at the city of Reykjavík, and as a planning director for Faxaflóahafnir (Associated Icelandic Ports). Current work includes diverse aspects of municipal land-use planning, master planning, urban design and environmental impact assessments.

MATTHILDUR ELMARSDÓTTIR

Consultant

MSc in Urban Planning, University of Toronto, Canada, 1994, PG Diploma in Urban Design, Oxford Brookes University, 2007. Matthildur worked previously as a planner in at the National Planning Agency and the municipality of Akureyri. Her main fields of work at Alta are strategic regional and national planning, municipal land-use planning and strategic environmental assessment, as well as urban design.

ÞÓRA KJARVAL

Consultant

Dipl. Arch. in architecture and urban design, RIBA Part I and Part II, from The Edinburgh College of Art, 2009 and BA in architecture from Iceland University of the Arts, 2005. Previously she worked as a planner at the municipality of Kópavogur. Her main fields of work at Alta are land-use planning at the municipal level and urban design.
