His career includes design of machinery and software, product development, reliability studies, asset management, portfolio analysis and management of an entrepreneurial company in thermoelectrics and hydrogen storage. Current work includes diverse aspects of spatial planning, information systems including GIS, management plans, project management and strategy. Founder and owner of Alta.
BSc in Landscape Design from the Agricultural University of Iceland and a MSc in Sustainable Urban Design from Lund University in Sweden, where she specialized in urbanization of suburban neighborhoods with focus on public transit, walkability, playful public realm and sustainable drainage solutions. Current work includes land-use planning at a municipal level and urban design.
BSc degree in geography from University of Iceland, an MSc in Environment and Development Studies from King's College, London and an MA in Food Policy from City University, London. In her studies, Elín focused on societal challenges of natural resource utilisation and later on food policy and its impact on societies and the natural environment. Elín lived in London for 16 years where she worked with the membership organisation Urban Forum, which focused on linking community and voluntary groups with national and local government on strategic issues. Elín also worked at RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) where she led the Building Future think tank. Since moving to Iceland in 2018 Elin has worked for the Regional Park Snæfellsnes and in the office of agriculture and food at the Ministry of Industry and Innovation

MSc Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University, MSc in Geochemistry of Geothermal Systems from Stanford University and BSc in geology from University of Iceland. Her career includes project management in consulting and management roles in both the private and public sectors. Her main fields of work apart from running Alta and project management, have been in regional development and sustainable land-use planning, development of national and regional parks, implementation of sustainable drainage systems, environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment, implementation of development projects, external evaluations and change management in general.
HALLDÓRA HRÓLFSDÓTTIR (DÓRA)
MSc in Urban Planning from McGill University in Montreal, Canada 2008 and BA in Political Science and French from University of Iceland. Dóra worked previously as a planner at the city of Reykjavík, and as a planning director for Faxaflóahafnir (Associated Icelandic Ports). Current work includes diverse aspects of municipal land-use planning, master planning, urban design and environmental impact assessments.
Postgraduate diploma in Urban Planning and Design at UPC- Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya 2008, MSc in Environmental Sustainability University of Edinburgh, 2001 and BA in Anthropology University of Iceland, 2000. Current work includes diverse aspects of sustainable urban planning, municipal land-use planning and public participation.
MSc in Urban Planning and Transport from Reykjavík University, 2012 and BSc in Geography from University of Iceland, 1994. Her main fields of work have been related to land use planning at municipal and national level, environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment, sustainability appraisals, transport studies, studies related to the management of public spaces, GIS mapping and analysis.

Matthildur worked previously as a planner in at the National Planning Agency and the municipality of Akureyri. Her main fields of work at Alta are strategic regional and national planning, municipal land-use planning and strategic environmental assessment, as well as urban design.
Dipl. Arch. in architecture and urban design, RIBA Part I and Part II, from The Edinburgh College of Art, 2009 and BA in architecture from Iceland University of the Arts, 2005. Previously she worked as a planner at the municipality of Kópavogur. Her main fields of work at Alta are land-use planning at the municipal level and urban design.
